This grant awards six elementary schools with over $800 in self-selected books, eBooks, and/or audiobooks related to social issues to add to their central library collections. The award, which targets students in grades five and six, matches funds that have already been invested in the library during this school year. The program addresses a wide range of CCSS in English Language Arts by providing a shared platform across schools to support research and writing on various social issues. Students from each participating school will post three response writings, three interactions with other students, and one book review, based on research conducted with library resources, into this project wiki. Connections will be made with the classroom by providing a foundation of collaboration with a homeroom teacher.
